Acupuncture?

Tell me what you think about acupuncture and IVF....

Did you do it?

If you used it, do you think it was worth it?

How often?

When did you start?

Was it just one more thing/appointment to stress you out?

I didn't do acupuncture during our IVF process but I had tried it before then during IUI cycles. I found it relaxing but it was expensive and I finally got to where I didn't want to spend any extra money on anything once we went with IVF.

Love it. I started it one week ago (second week into BCPs for IVF). I went last week and then today. Next week, I'll start going twice a week (she gives discounts during stimming since I'm in twice per week). I'll go in once within 24 hours of the transfer. She recommends within 24 hours after as well, but she's an hour from my clinic, so it's a no go.

I love it... it's calming. Expensive, yes. I've never done acupuncture before but decided if we had to go to IVF, we were going to do everything possible.

Good luck!

I managed to find a community acupuncture place which made it much less expensive for me, and I was was able to go twice a week. I stopped during the 2ww, because it was causing me to have some cramping and that made me nervous.

I went for about 3 months before IVF, and I think it helped improve my reproductive health and stress level overall. I also had acupuncture before and after transfer, while at the RE, and though it was expensive it made me feel like a) I was doing a little something extra to help my embryo, and b) that it was good for my stress levels on that day. I was able to relax completely with the needles, and listen to a fun podcast at the same time, and I found myself actually laughing and happy post transfer which I think might have helped me get my first ever BFP!

Overall, I would definitely recommend it, especially if you are able to afford to see someone who specializes in acupuncture for fertility. It is wonderful for your circulation and for relaxation, and those are two very important things during an IVF cycle.

I have tried it (sans IVF) and found it relaxing the second time. The first time I was just anxious about what to expect that I couldn't really relax.

If I had a place to go nearby, I think I'd go on a regular basis, but especially for IVF.
